An app that connects readers with each other: search for titles, see what your community is reading, and exchange books with no friction. I worked on the user research, information architecture, wireframes, and the full interactive prototype in Figma.

Research

User personas, empathy maps, and qualitative and quantitative research with real users over two weeks.

Key findings

They trust the original synopsis and reviews from other readers more than bestseller lists.
They value personalized recommendations, as long as they aren't intrusive.
They want to give their books a second life, saving both space and money.

Identified features

A rating system, with stars and a score.

A virtual library of your own books, physical or digital.

Lending between users, with a donation option.

Mainly Wattpad; nothing else.

Is there something no app offers that you'd like to have?

A customizable collection of the books I've already read, like a library that's recognizably mine.

What would the ideal reading app look like?

With attractive covers, some kind of visual filter, and a "roulette" mechanic for discovering books.

Which features are most useful to you in an app that helps you choose books?

Swipeable cards, like Tinder — the experience feels like being in a bookstore: you see the book, read the back cover, and decide if you like it.
